Sonia “Sunny” Jacobs

Scott Jenkins Comment, News

MOJO are sad to learn of the passing of Sunny Jacobs. Sunny was a former death-row inmate, who along with her late husband Peter, also exonerated, were successful campaigners who founded the Sunny Centre, a retreat for victims of miscarriages of justice, in Ireland.

We were privileged to work with Sunny, alongisde Peter, with our late client Robert Brown and our founder Paddy Hill, during the production of Mark McLoughlin’s compelling film Fallout, which was accompanied by two world-wide awareness raising campaigns “The Guilt of Innocence” and “Say I’m Innocent”.

May she rest in peace.

Further information on the inspiring story of Sunny and Peter and the important work carried out by the Sunny Centre can be found at sunnycenter.org.

From The Guardian online, today, we reproduce the striking findings of research undertaken by our London colleagues, Appeal, into the use of the “joint enterprise” doctrine by prosecutors in England and Wales.
