Irish Culture & Heritage in Glasgow

Euan Events, News

Our recently retired Chief Executive – but ongoing trustee – Cathy Molloy, and our recently appointed trustee Patrick Maguire, were delighted to speak on Friday (16th May) at an Irish Culture and Heritage Conference, held at the St Francis Community Centre in the Gorbals by the Govanhill Baths Community Trust. Cathy spoke about the work we do at MOJO in continuing the legacy of Paddy Hill. Patrick spoke of his experiences as a teenager, wrongfully convicted and imprisoned with his family, who came to be known as the Maguire Seven.

Ann Vance, an artist who was for many years a friend of Paddy Hill, very kindly donated to MOJO a striking example of her work in the form of a portrait of our much-missed founder. It now hangs, prominently, in our office.

We attach a selection of photographs of the event:

Excessive use of charging powers observed in joint enterprise trials, say researchers

From The Guardian online, today, we reproduce the striking findings of research undertaken by our London colleagues, Appeal, into the use of the “joint enterprise” doctrine by prosecutors in England and Wales. Our friends at JENGbA have been tirelessly campaigning about this for years. This is not an issue unique to England and Wales. In […]
