Recent Fundraising Activity

Euan Events, News

All at MOJO would like to thank the following for their fundraising efforts in recent weeks, raising much needed resources for client activities.

On Wednesday we ran a story about Cathy Molloy, our outgoing Chief Executive Officer, who gave 22 years of service to this organisation. Last month, Cathy arranged a fundraiser which raised a grand total of £471. If you too would like to donate towards Cathy’s fundraiser please do so HERE.

We would like to thank our brilliant volunteers who are members of the University of Strathclyde Law Society: Rowan Brockie, Eilidh Macleod and Abbie Watt, who nominated MOJO as the beneficiary for their annual fundraiser ceilidh. This event raised a total of £345.20. Thanks too to our former volunteer Molly Watt, who we understand is the current president of the society, for making this happen.

We would also like to thank Michelle Diskin Bates and DF Concerts for their generous annual donations.

Lastly (but certainly by no means least) we would like to thank Barney and all this brilliant staff at the Carlton Studios for organising and hosting our annual MOJO Alabama 3 Aftershow Fundraiser.

We thank all the performers: Zydell Henry, Unholy Frankenstein the Girobabies, and, as always, the Carlton Jugband and Alabama 3, as well as Colm Fletcher, aka DJ Columba for his marathon set downstairs.

This year the event raised an amazing £1100, which is hugely welcome, and at the same time a drop in the ocean compared to the tens of thousands of pounds Barney and his team have raised for us over the years.

We will never be able to thank him enough for all that he has done, and continues to do, for our vulnerable service users.

All at MOJO would like to wish all our friends and supporters a Merry Christmas and all the best for 2025, when it comes. The office will be closed from 21 December to 6 January.

Victims, Complainers & Not Proven

Now that the dust is beginning to settle on the passing of the long-in-the-making Victims, Witnesses and Justice Reform (Scotland) Bill, it is time to take stock of what this “landmark” exercise in law-making actually delivers. The purpose of this legislation, we’re told, is to place the interests of victims at the heart of the […]

Excessive use of charging powers observed in joint enterprise trials, say researchers

From The Guardian online, today, we reproduce the striking findings of research undertaken by our London colleagues, Appeal, into the use of the “joint enterprise” doctrine by prosecutors in England and Wales. Our friends at JENGbA have been tirelessly campaigning about this for years. This is not an issue unique to England and Wales. In […]
