Coronavirus Response

Euan News

In response to the unprecedented circumstances of the current public health crisis, we have taken unwelcome, but necessary, steps both to protect our staff and to maintain our resilience.  We hope that these will allow us to continue to provide our essential services, both to our clients in prison and to our clients in the community.   The health and safety of our people is, however, of paramount importance.

With effect from Monday 16 March we have suspended all operations of our volunteer staff, who will not be attending our offices until it is safe for them to do so.

Our full-time staff will continue to work from our offices for the time being.  From and after our appointments on Thursday (19 March) we will be suspending all client-facing meetings, until further notice.  No further prison visits will be undertaken until further notice.

We will continue to be available to our clients by telephone, and by email.  These contact details are:

Telephone:                  0141 552 0009

Email:                          info@miscarriagesofjustice.org

Should it prove necessary for us work remotely, alternative contact telephone numbers will be published on our website and on our Facebook page.

We wish you continued good health.  Stay safe.

Birmingham bombings inquest whitewash repeated at Guildford

The decision by the coroner at the Birmingham bombings inquest to exclude from scrutiny the very matters that might have allowed the victims’ families some degree of closure – a decision that also denied justice to Paddy Hill and the other unwitting victims of the atrocity – rendered that exercise effectively pointless and, depending on […]

Prisoners denied access to forensic evidence in bid to prove their innocence

For miscarriage of justice victims looking to overturn their wrongful convictions, one of the most significant challenges they encounter is the refusal of police and Crown to allow access to crucial evidence that could fatally undermine the case against them. From The Guardian online yesterday (10 July), we reproduce an interesting article that highlights this […]
